AREA DIRECTOR

North Shore and Bowen Island
STAFF ASSOCIATE / STAFF REPRESENTATIVE / AREA DIRECTOR
North Shore Vancouver has a long Young Life history as well as a small but extremely dedicated Committee. Since Young Life has existed here for over 60 years, North Shore YL has deep connections with churches, schools and other para-church organizations. The opportunity is so rich here! In addition, there is a great need and openness to starting Young Life and WyldLife on Bowen Island, just a short 14-minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay.
Young Life North Shore is looking for someone ready to dig in, trust God’s leading and love this community of young people who desperately need Jesus. We want someone who will tenaciously follow God’s lead to build an outreach ministry under the direction and timing of the Holy Spirit. We are expectant and trusting God for what only He can do!
Port Alberni
STAFF ASSOCIATE / STAFF REPRESENTATIVE
Young Life Port Alberni has a long history going back to the 1990s. They have a dedicated Committee and a base of supporters, along with good relationships with the churches in town. This community is on a beautiful part of Vancouver Island near Tofino, offers an outdoor lifestyle and has a community that can often have teenagers facing many hard challenges. The two recent staff people, Staff Associate and Area Director, both moved away in the fall of 2023 and there is now a group of volunteers continuing to run a club. There is an opportunity for a new staff person to come in and give leadership and support to the volunteers and develop a strong ministry.
Qualicum Beach
STAFF ASSOCIATE / STAFF REPRESENTATIVE
Young Life Qualicum Beach has a great history going back to 2007. Doug Lochhead launched and led the work for 16 years, running a vibrant WyldLife ministry and has just recently moved into a head office administrative role, but continues to live in town and would be a great support to a future staff person. There is a solid Committee team that has partnered with Doug over these past many years and is excited for a new staff person to come give leadership to a Club ministry. Qualicum Beach is right next door to Parksville, and together make up the beautiful larger community referred to as Oceanside, that are hotspots for beach tourism in the summer and enjoy a warm sense of small town community all year round.
Sunshine Coast
STAFF ASSOCIATE
Young Life in the Sunshine Coast is looking for a staff person to take the baton and run this next leg of the race. Restarted 4 years ago the Sunshine Coast is an area full of potential, there are currently teens, leaders, support and a growing Young Life culture. This beautiful seaside area includes Gibsons, Sechelt and many other small communities.
Ucluelet and Tofino
STAFF ASSOCIATE
Ucluelet and Tofino would love to see Young Life come to these amazing surfing communities. There is local adult interest and a potential connection to a church as well as the possibility of help with finding housing for the right person who would feel the call to start Young Life in Ukee. These two neighbouring towns are on the west coast of Vancouver Island and share a high school of 250 students
Whistler and Pemberton
STAFF ASSOCIATE
Join the Sea to Sky area and help launch Young Life in Whistler. Working alongside staff in Squamish, the Whistler and Pemberton Staff Associate position leaves lots of room for creativity and growth in this beautiful adventure town. Groundwork has been laid over the last few years and the area is ready for someone to take it to the next level.
Delta
STAFF REPRESENTATIVE
Young Life Delta is looking for the next great staff person to help lead this newer area. There is a strong support network of adults ready to partner to help bring a vibrant Young Life ministry to the area. Work alongside staff in the neighbouring communities to launch new ministry in this great seaside community, there is lots of room for growth here!
